We’re a sanctuary and playground for creative souls to gather, soften, reimagine, and remember what really matters - together.

Our Story

The Unlearning Studio began with a deep ache and a quiet knowing:
That the world doesn’t need more productivity.
It needs more aliveness.

And that aliveness lives in the places we’ve been taught to doubt and deny:
the quiet, the tender, the too-sensitive, the strange, the slow, the intuitive.

We’re artists, facilitators, noticers, travelers, and fierce feelers.
We’ve burned out, unraveled, and reimagined.
We’ve followed joy and possibility like a thread through the chaos.
This studio was born to hold that thread - and to pass it gently onto others.

Learn About Our Founder

Why Unlearning?

We live in a world that teaches us to override our bodies, distrust our inner knowing, and chase lives that often look good yet feel hollow.

This disconnection ripples outward creating anxious children who can't name their feelings, burnt-out parents running on empty, workplaces that prize productivity over humanity, and communities too exhausted from standing against systems that harm us to imagine and build the ones that could heal us.

Unlearning is how we gently loosen those inherited patterns, not to fix ourselves, but to make space for something wiser to emerge.

When we unlearn, we begin to reclaim what’s always lived inside us:

Creativity

Not as a talent, but as a life-force that helps us sense our way through hard things and imagine new possibilities for ourselves and this world.

Courage

Not as fearlessness or heroics, but as presence and commitment to everyday acts that help us thrive and honor what matters most.

Care

Not as self-sacrifice or exhaustion, but as sacred tending to our own needs and the world's knowing that our wholeness feeds the whole.

Connection

Not as digital validation or surface harmony, but as the alchemy of authenticity — the courage to know and be known.

These aren’t skills to master. They are capacities to reawaken.

And when we awaken them, we don’t just change our inner lives: we reshape how we show up in our families, our systems, and our shared futures.

Inner aliveness helps weave the fabric of outer reimagining.

And in our fragmented world, we very much need people who are rooted, awake and willing to dream differently for our future.

What is Unlearning?

The Unlearning Journey looks like…

Reveal
See the pattern. What was I taught?

Honor
Acknowledge the gifts. What did it give me?

Grieve
Feel the cost. What did it take from me?

Shift
Try something different. What if I didn't do it that way this time?

Return
Reconnect with truth. What's always been mine?

Reweave
Build something new. What do I want to shape now?

Repeat.
Stay with the spiral. What's next to meet again?

Unlearning is how we become conduits for possibility to emerge.

Unlearning is a living practice, not a linear path. Each time we make a loop around the spiral, we have the opportunity to discover deeper depths of creativity, courage, connection, and care for ourselves and others.

What What We Do

The Unlearning Studio is less of a place and more a way of being together. It’s a sanctuary and space for unwinding and exploring that lives wherever we meet…

We offer both virtual and in-person experiences
Where creativity, courage, connection, and care can reawaken. What binds these experiences together isn’t the format; it’s the feeling. The way we tend to presence, relationship, and rhythm. The commitment we hold to gather in ways that nourish, not extract.

We gather around creation and exploration as a starting point for unlearning.
We stir, stitch, sing, mend, dye, weave, knead and chat. Ancestral technologies of connection like Palestinian embroidery circles, Andean wool-beating, Korean kimchi-making, Black Southern quilting bees, Jewish bread-braiding, Polynesian kapa making and more inspire us.

These forms of making are portals into memory, imagination, belonging, and cultural repair.
And they invite conversations that don’t begin with words, but do begin with presence.

When we gather differently around different things, we become different.

We begin to unlearn the trance of optimization.
To compost the need for neat agendas and guaranteed outcomes.
To trust that when the conditions are tended with care,
necessary, beautiful, and unexpected things can spring from our heads, hearts, and hands.

How We Practice

We create circles, not classrooms - spaces of shared becoming.

We call them practice grounds and playgrounds: places where making, moving, sensing, and connecting help us return to what matters most. Our spaces focus on creating the conditions where reawakening becomes possible. They are…

Embodied

Rooted in movement, sensation, and the wisdom of the body.

Relational

Where we center care and collective intelligence, learn and unlearn together with others.

Hands-On

Where paint, fabric, thread, food and materials are are co-facilitators and portals to deeper knowing.

Unrushed & Emergent

Where we resist urgency culture, let things unfold and trust that what wants to arise will arise in its own timing.

Playful & Reverent

Where laughter, silence, and soul-deep truths all belong.

Creative & Liberatory

Where creative expression is a form of cultural repair, resistance to extraction, and reimagining of what’s possible.

Whether we’re gathering for a single session or a season, we seek to hold the kind of relational field where your own wisdom can reawaken.

Because when we spend time in spaces that nurture and honor our creative essence rather pressure or perfect it, things begin to shift. Our nervous systems exhale. Ideas flow. What we make — and how we live — becomes more generative, more generous, more real.

Who We Are

The Unlearning Studio is shaped by a growing circle of creatives, facilitators, space-holders, and cultural reweavers.

We’re not sages on stages. We ARE glue-stick-passers, question-askers, fire-tenders, and fellow wayfinders.

We walk beside you as you unwind, remember, create, and grow.

Together, we’re cultivating a culture of creative companionship - where getting it right matters less than showing up real, and where you’re not just welcomed as you are, but held in the mystery of who you’re still becoming.
